Peter Nanof, 88, of Northborough and formerly a longtime resident of Marlborough, died on Friday, August 17, 2018 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Kline) Nanof for the past 63 years.
Born in West Boylston, he was the son of the late Artemis (Van) and Victor Nanof, and was a decorated Korean War Army Veteran, who proudly wore his Korean Veterans cap all of the time. Pete along with his wife, owned and operated Marlboro Transportation for many years before both retiring in 1991. Pete enjoyed spending time with his cherished family, having coffee with the guys, playing golf, working in the yard and making annual trips to Hampton Beach, Cape Cod and Florida. He was lucky to be surrounded by caring and supportive friends, who he adored until the end.
He was a proud Albanian with an unmatchable wit, an affinity for good cigars and a knack for regaling stories of his youth. He will be greatly missed by all those lucky enough to have known him.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Peter J. Nanof and his wife Rebecca of Westborough; Martha Dolan and her husband Andrew of Colgate, WI; his grandchildren, Phillip Nanof and his wife Jaci of Ashland, Jillian Nanof of Westborough; Colleen Stewart and her husband Cameron of San Antonio, TX; his great grandchildren, Brigham and Jameson Nanof, and Hayden Barry; his brother, Theodore Nanof and his wife Jean of Stillwater, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by 6 of his siblings, Helen Collaro and Violet Lux, John, Victor, Philip and Robert Nanof.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Coleman House of Northboro and JHC Hospice for their love and dedicated care of Pete and continued care of Shirley.
Services will be private .
