On Saturday, December 10th, Elizabeth J. Tebbetts "Betty," a beloved mother, grandmother and
great grandmother peacefully passed away. She was 87 years old, two days shy of her 88th birthday.
Born to Joseph Marchand and Mildred A. (Geyer) Marchand was the oldest of their eight children. She was the
former wife of Richard T. Tebbetts. Betty is predeceased by her oldest daughter Cynthia E. Branchaud. She
is survived by her three remaining children, daughter Lisa J. Nelson and her husband Michael Nelson of
Southborough, daughter Ellen T. Sora and her husband Brian Sora of Sutton, and her son Richard
S.Tebbetts of Auburn. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Betty was a scout leader, taught Sunday School, a school secretary, and worked at TD Bank of
Framingham for many years. She was a member of the First Community Church of Southborough. Betty
was an avid lover of animals especially dogs and horses. She loved going to horse shows and watching
her children and grandchildren ride. She loved to work on jigsaw puzzles, crosswords and word
searches. She used to say it was "to keep her mind sharp." She adored butterflies and cardinals and had
them displayed always.
Betty was known by all who knew her for her warm, loving, and generous spirit. She was an amazing
mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the hardworking and caring matriarch that held
our family together. She will be remembered for her love, joy and zest for life that she brought with her
everywhere she went. She will be truly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 20th at 1pm at the First Community
Church, 137 Southville Road, Southborough, MA 01772, with Rev. Dr. Paul Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow
after the service. Refreshments will take place directly after the burial, back at the First Community
Church.
