Marguerite “Peggy” Bartolini 97, the oldest resident in Southborough, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, after a short period of declining health, at Marlborough Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John Bartolini, Sr. for over 71 years.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Bernard and Mildred (Connor) Foley. Peggy grew up in Lexington before moving to Marlborough where she graduated from Marlborough High School.
After her marriage to John, they formed a successful home building business together where she worked while also raising her four sons.
Peggy was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s Club and St. Matthew Church bowling league, where she bowled into her 90’s.
She would spend winters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where friends and family visited often. Peggy would travel with John in their antique cars all over the country, attending both local and national meets with friends. She was a member of the Profile Automobile League (PAL’S) in New Hampshire, AACA and VMCCA national clubs. Peggy was a fabulous cook and was famous for her extravagant lunches that she provided for her family and many of their workers every day. Even though Peggy was legally blind she did her own cooking until recently.
Peggy had a great since of humor, often sharing a good story or joke with family and friends.
She is survived by her four sons, Jack and his wife, Gail of Southborough; Robert of Holliston; David and his late wife, Rose Mary of Hopkinton; Daniel and his wife, Lee Ann of Hopkinton; her 11 grandchildren, Tony and his wife, Manuela, Michael and his wife, Erin, Gregory and his wife Edilaine all of Southborough; Robert and his wife, Pam of Franklin; Maria Gribbons and her husband, James of Westborough; Susan Kaslow and her husband, Daniel of Los Angeles; Alise and her partner, Ric Smith of Grafton; David, Jr. and his wife, Emma of Southborough; Robert J. of Hopkinton; John Bond and his wife, Beth of Berlin; Jason of Southborough; and her 17 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Peggy’s caregiver and friend Vicki Comeau.
Peggy is the last of a generation being predeceased by her parents, sisters, Catherine (Kay) Riccardi, Dorothy Foti, Mary Possemato Mackie; brothers, Bernard, John, James and Paul Foley; daughter-in-law Rose Mary and great grandson, Lorenzo.
