Ostellio Gasparoni Obituary

Ostellio E. Gasparoni, 93, of Southborough, died at his home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Stel was the son of the late Ermete and Cesira (Livi) Gasparoni and the husband of C. Lorraine (Daltorio) Gasparoni, to whom he was married for 67 years. He was predeceased by his brothers, Julio and Charles Gasparoni and his sisters, Maria Berte and Alfonsina “Sina” Torcoletti.

Stellio was born in Marlborough, MA and was a graduate of the Worcester Boys Trade, Class of 1947. He then began his working career with the B. Perini Building Construction Company before enlisting in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War in Stuttgart, Germany for 20 months with the 500th Utility Platoon. Upon his return, he joined Donald S. Tait, Inc. in Belmont working as a union carpenter specializing in remodeling for 40 years. Stel was also a past Commander of the American Legion Post #161 of Southborough.

Stel will be remembered most as a man loyal and devoted to his family and community. For 40 years at 5:00 AM, Lorraine had his coffee and lunch box ready prior to his heading out to work. Stel coached many successful Little League and Babe Ruth teams in town. He also focused on his magical woodworking projects he created in his basement workshop. His greatest pleasure was giving away his famous “birdhouses” to neighbors and those who helped him in any way. In his retirement, Stel enjoyed playing golf, making puzzles and spending time with his family barbecuing in the backyard and swimming in the pool. Stel loved playing cribbage, especially with friends and family and in championship tournaments. Stel and Lorraine also enjoyed rooting for all the Boston Sports teams throughout the years, especially the Red Sox.

Besides his wife, Stel is survived by his children, Robert Gasparoni and his wife Joan of Sarasota, FL., Kenneth Gasparoni and his wife Fania of Southborough, MA, Paula Gasparoni of Raynham, MA and Carol Gasparoni and her husband Warren Hardman of Southborough, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Julia Rose and Kenneth O. Gasparoni, Lauren G. Hardman, Antonio, Melanie and Olivia Gasparoni as well as many nieces and nephews.
